Banquet Honors Aero-One Aviation & Introduces Auburn Aviation Camp Scholarship Process Recap

Our Chapter held its annual banquet Thursday evening, December 15th at the Wiregrass Rehabilitation Center.  Great food and fellowship was had by all.  Jim Kale gave us a fine program on possible ways we could bring model aircraft building and flying - into our Young Eagle program.  Jim has some great ideas and we plan to incorporate some as we go forward.  The Chapter also recognized the outstanding support we have received from Aero-One Aviation when President Ray Carney presented General Manager Scott Capeheart with a certificate and trophy.

The members present also reaffirmed our commitment to sending two of our Young Eagles to the Auburn Aviation Camp in June 2018.  We reviewed and commented upon the application process.  Open a PDF File of the 2018 Auburn Aviation Scholarship Application Process for Chapter 1358 Young Eagles.

Former Chapter 1358 Young Eagle Graduates with Honors!

Lynze Price, a former Chapter 1358 Young Eagle, graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Aviation Maintenance Science Summa Cum Laude from the Embry-Riddle College of Aviation on December 18, 2017.  Attending the ceremony were a host of family and friends.  Lynze’s Dad and Mom, Tom and Mary, hosted a super celebration luncheon after the graduation.

Also attending were representatives from Chapter 1358: President Ray Carney, immediate past President Danny Cherry, and Young Eagle pilot Bill Castlen.  This trio put into play the Chapters motto (Flying, Food, and Fellowship) and flew down to the grand event.  This flight was a great example of all that is wonderful about General Aviation and EAA: the utility and safety of operating in a weather environment and the beauty of things seen only from the air.
