About Our Chapter (Updated AUGUST 2019)

In early 2002 a few aviation enthusiasts gathered in one of the "T" hangars at Headland Airport with a purpose. There were builders, vintage aircraft owners, and sport pilots. The ranks included all manner of experience from light sport to ATP, but the common goal was to establish a new Chapter as part of the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA). Under the leadership of President Jay Harbert, Chapter 1358 was born. Now over 17 years later, with membership growing, 1358 has taken on a new title. The WireGrass Chapter is becoming know as Southeast Alabama's most active chapter. Our monthly gatherings offer fly-outs and fly-ins, Young Eagles programs, informative classes, and great fellowship. "Flying, Food, and Fellowship" is our motto.

The WireGrass Chapter gathers each month (normally the 2nd Saturday, at 10:30) at the Dothan Regional Airport’s Training Facility, 74 Atlantic St, about one block due west of the Aero-One FBO. To get on our mailing list, send us your e-mail address.

Instrument Meterological Conditions (IMC) Club

The IMC Club’s purpose is to promote instrument flying, proficiency, and safety. The intent is to create a community of pilots willing to share information, provide recognition, foster communications, promote safety, and build proficiency in instrument flying. IMC Club chapters offer monthly meetings in which pilots can network and share knowledge and experiences.
If you are an EAA member, you are an IMC Club member and no additional sign-up steps are necessary. More at EAA / IMC Club

    Young Eagles

The EAA Young Eagles program was launched in 1992 to give interested young people, ages 8 - 17, an opportunity to go flying in a general aviation airplane. These flights are offered free of charge and are made possible through the generosity of EAA member volunteers.

    Come Fly with Us

EAA Chapter 1358 actively supports the Young Eagles program by regularly flying area youngsters as part of our annual activities.  Our chapter members have flown thousands of Young Eagles.  To find out when our next flight rally will occur, view our events calendar.
